How did Pino Pie Day get started?
I made brief little something to show you how I came to have a pie party with my donkey. In fact, how the heck did a Minnsotan city girl end up living on a run down farm where the barn speaks? Well, in a nutshell: Shattered heart reborn through a cherry pie...and a donkey. True story. The shortie version. Pass it onto pie lovers, please.
Aprons for Pino!
Pino and I received a wonderful, glorious gift from afar, full of vintage aprons and of course, cookies. There was even a piece of vintage fabric with a donkey on it - I must make that into something extra special. And if that wasn't good enough, the kind gift giver also included a retro table cloth with cherries on it - in honor of the story of how I made Martyn a cherry pie after he climbed a cherry tree in a heat wave. It's a great start to the spring months leading up to Pino Pie Day 2012. Thank you to Betsy D. for sending them all the way from Iowa to help with Pino's cause. This year all apron sales will be split between our three favorite animal organizations: New Moon Goat Rescue, Sanctuary One and Lavender Dreams Donkey Rescue. All our barnyard creatures have been adopted from these fine places and we know them all personally and respect them greatly.
I'm moving all apron sales over to Etsy. Donated aprons are hung on the clothesline at Pino Pie Day in June and if they don't sell they are held for the next year, or are put on Etsy.
You can also donate an apron to Pino.
Or you can donate scrap fabric for more apron making.

Raggedy Aprons now on Etsy

From now on, I will be posting my Raggedy Aprons on my Etsy shop, and not here. All incoming donated aprons will still also be put on Etsy after the annual Pino Pie Day, or held for next year's Pino Pie Day.
I have been slowly making more aprons....and they seem to sell quickly on Etsy. So if you go there and don't see any, be sure to look at the 'items sold' link to see past aprons already sold. They are a delight to make.
Aprons already arriving for 2012 Pie Day

A big box addressed to Pino arrived last week, all the way from Florida, jammed back with vintage aprons for Pino's Pie Day 2012.
Thank you to the donkey, pugs and humans at Karma Acres Farm
for the wonderful gift of these aprons to help Pino's cause. And, of course, we also really liked the jar of your honey. Pino loves honey, having admired the Pooh books his whole life.

Vintage fabric gifted to Pino

Pino and I received a wonderful gift from Christine Gross of Washington, who was here at Apifera for the September Art Workshop.
She graced us with a box of her grandmother's vintage stash. I can't wait to incorporate these into aprons and donkey collage art. She also gave Pino animal crackers, brought goodies for dogs, cats and a sweet felted item for me [she makes wonderful felted dolls].
Thank you, Christine, it was so nice having you here at the farm.
You can donate scrap fabric for more apron making to help Pino.
